Forest Products
Trees for today and tomorrow
The forest products industry is the economic mainstay of thousands of people living in northeastern Minnesota. From loggers and truck drivers to board plant, sawmill and paper mill workers, producing forest products is more than just a job. It is a way of life. Because of this, forest health and regeneration receive special care and attention.
Forestry and the BioEconomy
As the world, country and state seek alternative energy sources and work to respond to the ecological problems that are quickly becoming economic challenges, Minnesota’s biological diversity, coupled with its well-established forest products and energy industries, positions the state to lead the country in finding solutions to these complex challenges.
The "Seizing Opportunity: Forestry and the Bioeconomy" conference, co-sponsored by the Blandin Foundation and Iron Range Resources, focused on aligning actors in the region to take best advantage of emerging technologies and markets - particularly in the area of renewable energy and biofuels - for the region's communities and forest products industry. http://www.blandinfoundation.org/html/public_vital_conf_Bio_07a.cfm
